Street Colours

The street markets of Shamshuipo are very busy.

IMG_20150828_0010 640

There’s a constant assault of colours.

IMG_20150828_0011 640

There’s so much movement.

IMG_20150828_0012 640

So much that may be hidden.

IMG_20150828_0013 640

That you can’t take what you see for granted.

IMG_20150828_0014 640

Every scene is a visual poem.

IMG_20150828_0015 640

The camera is a notebook with which to write.

Thanks for reading!

Olympus XA 3

Sometimes, it is a pain when you realize that what you have is actually good enough.

IMG_20150828_0001 640

Sad is the man who realizes he does not have a good excuse to buy another camera.

IMG_20150828_0002 640

What happens if you’re already happy with your Olympus XA 2 as a street camera?

IMG_20150828_0003 640

You go out and buy an Olympus XA 3, of course.

IMG_20150828_0004 640

It’s the same difference.

IMG_20150828_0005 640

There’re differences between a Olympus XA 2 and XA 3, of course.

IMG_20150828_0006 640

What this also means is that I could go out with 2 different films.

IMG_20150828_0007 640

One could be loaded with a colour film and the other with a b/w film.

IMG_20150828_0008 640

Or they could have films of different ISOs.

Ah – the joys of street photography.

Some more Shamshuipo

I’m still walking around…

IMG_20150831_0013 640

The streets are exhibitions waiting to speak.

IMG_20150831_0016 640

What would the stall say?

IMG_20150831_0017 640

What’s he thinking about?

IMG_20150831_0018 640

We’re all concealed by what we buy and sell.

IMG_20150831_0020 640

We all buy and sell.

IMG_20150831_0021 640

We’re all waiting.

IMG_20150831_0029 640

Until it’s all meat…

Walking Around

I have so many posts of the street markets at Shamshuipo.

IMG_20150831_0003 640

My only excuse is that things are always changing, and the streets are never the same from hour to hour.

IMG_20150831_0004 640

I’d wonder about the kind of life stories people have.

IMG_20150831_0005 640

What would we say, if we have had a chance to speak about ourselves to one another?

IMG_20150831_0006 640

I’m the guy with the camera who thinks too much.

IMG_20150831_0007 640

While someone else is having his siesta.

IMG_20150831_0008 640

The streets are so busy.

Having lunch.

IMG_20150819_0012 640

Looks yummy.

IMG_20150819_0016 640

This is also a space of commodity.

IMG_20150819_0019 640

Though people do live and make a living here.

IMG_20150819_0022 640

Tiong Bahru Pao!

IMG_20150819_0023 640

Colourful drinks stall.

IMG_20150819_0025 640

Yummy hawker food!

IMG_20150819_0029 640

Touristy stalls.

IMG_20150819_0030 640

Singapore’s Little India in Colour

My previous post on Little India was in b/w.

IMG_20150819_0002 640

These are in colour.

IMG_20150819_0003 640

Friends in conversation.

A street fruit stall.

IMG_20150819_0009 640

A framed place.

IMG_20150819_0010 640

A vegetable stall.

IMG_20150819_0017 640

I can’t resist another shot at the sign, as if to assure myself that everything has its place in Singapore.

Singapore’s Little India in B/W

These are b/w street photographs of Little India.

IMG_20150814_0022 640

Think of these as a nod towards Aik Beng Chia’s work on Little India.

IMG_20150814_0024 640

Check out his excellent work Tonight the Streets Are Ours here and here.

IMG_20150814_0026 640

There’s definitely a strong sense of community here.

IMG_20150814_0031 640

People are always in touch with one another.

IMG_20150814_0032 640

Scenes of friendship.

IMG_20150814_0033 640

Street scenes.

IMG_20150814_0034 640

Joy of the streets.

IMG_20150814_0035 640

The streets are institutionalized and framed.

IMG_20150814_0036 640

That doesn’t mean we should stop searching and looking.

Singapore Street Photography

These are various snapshots in Singapore, with no particular order or theme in mind.

IMG_20150814_0010 640

Though I must confess a significant number of images have to do with food…

IMG_20150814_0012 640

He’s eating.

IMG_20150814_0013 640

He’s texting.

IMG_20150814_0011 640

He’s working really hard.

IMG_20150814_0014 640

He’s buying.

IMG_20150814_0015 640

I’m buying.

IMG_20150814_0020 640

I’m buying some more.

IMG_20150814_0017 640

These, I suppose, make up part of what Singapore is.
