Cruise Day 3

Rise and shine!

To Keelung!

Wifey thought Eslite Bookstore at Taipei was the only place to go to, which I agreed.

What a place! It’s full of book lovers.

My kind of people.

This is what I do on a boring commute.

MRT and TRA back to Keelung.

Headed for the night market.

Fwah!

Are we hungry yet?

Check it out!

That’s the Keelung night market.

Loads of street food.

Street food, street hawkers, street photography.

Yummy.

There’s even a slice of Singapore/Malaysia/Indonesia!

I succumbed only to stinky tofu.

Back to the ship.

For a quiet beer.

Street Colours

The street markets of Shamshuipo are very busy.

IMG_20150828_0010 640

There’s a constant assault of colours.

IMG_20150828_0011 640

There’s so much movement.

IMG_20150828_0012 640

So much that may be hidden.

IMG_20150828_0013 640

That you can’t take what you see for granted.

IMG_20150828_0014 640

Every scene is a visual poem.

IMG_20150828_0015 640

The camera is a notebook with which to write.

Thanks for reading!

Olympus XA 3

Sometimes, it is a pain when you realize that what you have is actually good enough.

IMG_20150828_0001 640

Sad is the man who realizes he does not have a good excuse to buy another camera.

IMG_20150828_0002 640

What happens if you’re already happy with your Olympus XA 2 as a street camera?

IMG_20150828_0003 640

You go out and buy an Olympus XA 3, of course.

IMG_20150828_0004 640

It’s the same difference.

IMG_20150828_0005 640

There’re differences between a Olympus XA 2 and XA 3, of course.

IMG_20150828_0006 640

What this also means is that I could go out with 2 different films.

IMG_20150828_0007 640

One could be loaded with a colour film and the other with a b/w film.

IMG_20150828_0008 640

Or they could have films of different ISOs.

Ah – the joys of street photography.

Some more Shamshuipo

I’m still walking around…

IMG_20150831_0013 640

The streets are exhibitions waiting to speak.

IMG_20150831_0016 640

What would the stall say?

IMG_20150831_0017 640

What’s he thinking about?

IMG_20150831_0018 640

We’re all concealed by what we buy and sell.

IMG_20150831_0020 640

We all buy and sell.

IMG_20150831_0021 640

We’re all waiting.

IMG_20150831_0029 640

Until it’s all meat…

Walking Around

I have so many posts of the street markets at Shamshuipo.

IMG_20150831_0003 640

My only excuse is that things are always changing, and the streets are never the same from hour to hour.

IMG_20150831_0004 640

I’d wonder about the kind of life stories people have.

IMG_20150831_0005 640

What would we say, if we have had a chance to speak about ourselves to one another?

IMG_20150831_0006 640

I’m the guy with the camera who thinks too much.

IMG_20150831_0007 640

While someone else is having his siesta.

IMG_20150831_0008 640

The streets are so busy.

On Looking

Sometimes it is the architecture of the city that teaches us how to look.

IMG_20150518_0009 640

We look up.

IMG_20150518_0010 640

We look again with a slight change of perspective.

IMG_20150518_0016 640

We glance from far away.

IMG_20150518_0021 640

A coordinated look.

IMG_20150518_0025 640

Look up, look down.

IMG_20150518_0026 640

We read.

IMG_20150518_0030 640

We wait and read and see.

IMG_20150518_0031 640

What does the look want?

IMG_20150518_0032 640

The look of friendship.
