Die die must try!
The obligatory gift shop.
The curry puffs are to die for.
I never quite got the character as a kid.
My favorite fruit.
Obligatory gift.
Thirsty?
Shadow of history.
Easily framed.

What I do when the family is on retail therapy …
A pedestrian street.
A history of the present…
The streets are clean.
Street tourism.
Somewhat in your face…
Street prayer…
Street fruit!
Street selfies…
Another history of the present…

On Cheung Chau island.
The atmosphere is rather relaxed.
One could dream of a life here.
It’s one of those possible doorways.
One could just stand here and admire the wall.
Lack of love?
An advertising and laundry space.
Very homely.
Though sometimes we could be in a hurry.
Oh I’m dreaming I’m dreaming of a slower pace of life.
Is it possible?
It is possible.
Maybe I’m romanticizing too much.
It’s a possibility, I suppose.

Chinatown!
Having lunch.
Looks yummy.
This is also a space of commodity.
Though people do live and make a living here.
Tiong Bahru Pao!
Colourful drinks stall.
Yummy hawker food!
Touristy stalls.
Waiting for Tintin.
Ice cream with biscuit!
Another tourist souvenir stall.

I was in Penang recently with my family and many of the street pictures were taken with my Olympus XA 2, in-between vacation shots taken with my Canon 600D.
The above was taken while riding a trishaw.
Another shot, taken from a trishaw.
The Gurney Drive street food market was where we found ourselves on most days.
Fried oyster!
Yummy!
Lok lok!
Laksa!
That’s the “Chinese rojak” stall.
That’s the Indian rojak stall.
Sotong kangkong!
So yes, street food was on the top of our list at Penang.

I’ve set a challenge for myself – to do tourism slightly differently.
It’s a way of not spending money.
Go to touristy sites and look at tourists.
Turn that obligatory landmark photo into a street photograph.
And then suddenly, everyday life becomes intriguing.
Quiet moments are especially beautiful.
You could still be a tourist in the Tube.

We’re on Sentosa, an island theme park.
The Merlion – Singapore’s tourist icon which is an allusion to the 13th-century myth of a prince spotting a lion on an island which he later named Singapura (“Lion City” in Sanskrit).
The fish tail is supposed to remind Singapore of its origins as a fishing village.
It looked more menacing than usual on that day under a harsh sun.
The Sky Ride!
Woohoo!
It’s definitely not for those with a fear of heights.
That’s the luge ride – the other reason we were in Sentosa.
This looks rather poetic …
Another poetic shot … what can I say – I’m a street photography genius!
Tourism in a bus.
Much needed on a scorching hot day.
An even better idea on a hot day (every day) in Singapore.
That’s what it says…
The view is nice.
There’re still quiet corners on Sentosa.
No kidding! Or is this a trick?
It’s not a trick. *wink*
Waiting in a quiet corner.
Yes, there’re many scenic moments.
This is definitely not a stealthy camera…
